I love the idea of moon dogs marking their territory. (And yes, I do realize that he can’t pee outside his suit).
Also, I felt it was important that Dee’s anger, both at being lost and being so far from her parents, which comes out as punching.
I drew this strip before I ever even began running Little Dee. I had almost forgotten, this strip was actually what this entire storyline was based on (although it became it’s own beast as storylines usually tend to do).
Also a fair summary for the strip.
I wanted to do a strip about Laika, especially since I was on the space them, although I knew nothing about her. So i read a bit and was so sad that it was the goal for her to survive in space… but was never the goal for her to survive return. So…. add a little pathos with your humor, right?
It was also super fun drawing Laika for panel 2.
It was so much fun drawing that first panel.
And as much as i feel it is a fine punchline, I’m torn between the lackadaisical comment on panel 1 or the giggle in panel 3 which make me laugh most.
The opportunities for euphemisms were so numerous… but kids are reading it too. :)
Hey, I posted a recipe blog about making Lemon Raspberry Chocolate Tarts over at Cookrookery. Check it out.
