This strip totally stems from my child’s-eye imagination. I know growing up, every “jump” I was going to hit when sledding was going to propel me up and out like a rocket.
Reality was a lot smaller, shorter, and landing with a larger whump.

It’s always been unpleasant to observe that when one is being teased, and then gets hurt, the teaser always tries to act as if it’s no big deal. In real life, this can be awful, but in the funnies? Comic gold!
It was interesting (fun?) (funny?) to give this twist to Ted, where he suddenly isn’t 100% sweetness, but you are still totally on his side.

At least his “archaic” resolution wasn’t “to not build any automatic weapons.”
Always a silver lining, right? ;-)

I love the idea that Vachel offering suggestions to Ted on how ted can better himself, is Vachel’s definition of being helpful.

Happy New Year!
I wasn’t really sure how to end this utterly ridiculous week. This seemed as good as any. And bonus! Lots of ice cubes! :)

How good natured is that?! Stuck in ice and he’s still trying to care or her and keep her spirits up. I love Ted.
Not that something being on the top shelf would actually keep Dee from obtaining them, but the idea that she could now walk up to the top shelf where things were generally kept out of her reach was fun.

Sometimes when sneezing, it has that paralyzing tensing of all the muscles feel to it. When writing this week of strips, I suddenly pictured how awful it would be to sneeze while stuck in ice — not only the cold, but the absolute inability to move any part of your body while this tense release happens. The thought was thoroughly unpleasant and made me laugh.
