You probably know my sweet tooth by now. First on the list of my county fair memories is cotton candy.
Of course, aesthetically, what Vachel is saying is reprehensible. But I must admit, especially when traveling, that sometimes I despair bothering to take many pictures of popular places, as the postcards are often so much better.
Of course, the I can BE in the picture, and it is a picture I took, proving I was there. Perhaps that is why I would put a photo but not a postacard in my photo album.
It’s a decent gag, but I’m not sure enough people hike to make it profitable. Well, it might be if you don’t have to pay the minimum-wage teenager for their commute.
The funny thing with a strip like this, is I find myself falling on both sides. I fall into the adult “fuddy duddy” side of enjoying the peaceful side of nature, and I fall into the forever young and silly side of playfullness.
It was fun trying to think of all the joys of hiking, and then trying to think of all the complaints one could have over each of the same items.
Sometimes it’s hard to think of the truly unexpected (which is what humor is largely based on), which is yet not so surprising upon reflection; but “fetching” his sword was up there.

I find that for most people, complaining is like a sport. The topic doesn’t matter, it’s the complaining that matters. Which is why it’s such a problem when things resolve themselves.
