It was something vitally important. Something that I <i>had</i> to succeed in. Whenever I didn't wake up mid-dream I would be too late and I'd be filled with a feeling of dread. At which point I would wake up feeling horrible. The reason I mention it is that I remember moving fast in the dream. The dream stopped popping up at some point for no apparent reason, but I did note that I also stopped remembering most of my dreams at the same time. Something horrible, but I could not turn around to look, and my feet moved like they were encased in cement and I was not going to make it the last 5 steps to safety. Then I woke up. After my first firefight in 'Nam I never had another of those dreams. In fact, I haven't had a nightmare of any sort since. I've had some VERY strange dreams, but no nightmares. When I was a lad, I used to dream I was being chased by SOMEthing.
