I imagine (and often see) people's shining eyes when they pick up whatever-it-is. The stuff that is less gleamworthy goes to my favorite secondhand stores, with the quality varying according to how favorite they are. Savers gets the real rejects. Not much goes in the dumpster. Having said that, whatever am I going to do with years worth of letters, short stories, reprints of fascinating net essays, and my old audio cassettes? Answer -- scan, record, digitize and mulch.
