Yes, I recall that I used to know another variation, but it escapes me at the moment. Wiki has a few versions.

I still eat beans regularly. Love them. Baked, pork &, fried, re-fried, great northern, kidney, navy, lima, garbanzo, pinto; with ham or bacon or ham hock or fat back or salt pork or fresh side and my favorite, with ham bone and diced bacon and lots of onion. Dry, canned, fresh, dried, no matter. Love ‘em.

My brother and sister preferred pork & beans. When I had to cook as a young teenager, to satisfy them and me, I’d take a large can of pork & beans, chop up a few hot dogs, some bacon & onion and put it all in a deep pan to “fry”. I’d stir and cook it until it thickened up and we’d feast. My siblings put ketchup on theirs and I used Tabasco and a little yellow mustard. We’d put the mix in tortillas, fold them and eat it like handheld burritos, or eat it with forks from the plate and use sourdough toast to wipe the pan and plates clean of the least morsel. Believe it or not, when you’re hungry, fish sticks goes well with fried pork & beans if you don’t have enough of either to do the job alone. Then we’d sit until mom or dad got home and have “farting” contests which were invariably won by my younger brother.
