I'm actually very picky. I enjoy specific desserts a <i>lot</i> but if there's raspberry or coffee flavoring involved, for example, I'm not getting any pleasure out of it. And even with the regular ones, a lot of commercial cakes are bland and some commercial icings contain a weird flavor or... or <i>anti-flavor</i> that manages to take all the fun out of sugar for me. I do not know how you turn sugar bland. ...On the other side of things, my birthday cakes have on occasion skipped the cake part and just been ALL fudge icing. (My mother makes the best fudge. Ever. And at office birthdays, people try and take the SMALLEST piece; "Oh - just a small piece for me - no a little smaller - a little smaller - that's good!" And - get this! - sometimes they CUT THE ICING OFF! Once, I was the last person in line. Half of the cake was untouched. There was a huge pile of cut off icing. I took a decent size piece of cake, and all of the cut off icing. Some watched me in amazement (and possibly envy), "Y'all don't know how to live." And now, I’m an “adult.”
