OMG, that’s precisely why I don’t have a television either. If I had one, I’d be sitting in front of it every waking moment. I’d never get anything done!
Netflix is bad enough.

I have a friend in the same boat – he was not generally allowed to watch TV when he was young. Now, if he finds himself in front of a TV, he gets hypnotised by it.

My sister and her family lived in an area that didn’t have network
TV. But they had plenty of videos and shows others taped for them.
So the first time my young niece watched live TV, She wanted her Mom to fast forward through the commercials.

I actually do suspect my lack of willpowere against television to be because I didn’t develop it early on (I didn’t have hardly any TV until middle school either, and even then it was limited).

I had a friend who had grown up without T.V. and had never watched it until he came over to my grandmother’s house with me after middle school one day. This is exactly what it did to him. It was really bizarre. What was illuminating was my conversation with him the next day. He said, “Commercials are interesting to me. They’re surprisingly atrocious.”
