I would say "How the hell did they fit a tank through these streets?" I live on the oldest part in the city and it's a maze of ultra-thin streets.

I'd think; "Wow, an Abrams M1A2, I wonder what they're doing way out here on maneuvers, though. Think I'll go watch and maybe talk with them."

Or; "Wow, an old Soviet T62 tank! I wonder who owns it and maybe if I bring them food or beer I can cop a demo ride?"

Of course, I'm retired Army. ;-) Tanks are old business to us and not particularly frightening since we know their limitations.

My first question would be "Whose tank is it?" Once that's answered I might also have an answer to "What did I do?" (Or not, if it's just someone taking their tank out for a spin...)

It brings to mind something that happened a few years back. I was just crawling into bed when there was a banging at the door, and the announcement "Police! Open up!" I checked in the peephole and sure enough, there were 3 cops standing in the hallway. I opened the door a few inches, not letting them in, and asking what was the matter, at which point they handed me a search warrant. My first thought was about my ex-wife, thinking, "Karen, what did you do THIS time!"

I was in a large building that was two apartment buildings sharing a common wall. The north half and the south half had different street numbers. As it turned out, the police had the right apartment number, but the wrong side of the building. I pointed out the wrong address on the warrant (with GREAT relief in my voice!), they were apologetic, we all laughed a bit, and they went on to make a successful bust.
