@War Pig, I watch that show occasionally. My favorite had to be the teenaged girl who was the daughter of missionaries in Africa, who grew up imitating the monkeys in her back yard. Here she was, this giggly teenaged girl, who would just climb up vertical walls and hang on upside down under overhangs!

@crookedwolf, that’s where the value of Zen comes in. We’re not used to “listening” to our extremities, so we don’t “hear” things like the blood flowing through our veins. It’s why if you ask someone “How is your hand?”, they usually have to look at it before answering “OK. Why?” (The rest will answer, “OK” and THEN look at their hand to confirm what they just said.)

The student asked the master, “Master, what is the secret of enlightenment?” The master replied, “The secret is to not think of the White Elephant.” Weeks later, the student was working in the fields, when he suddenly threw down his hoe, ran to the master and exclaimed, “Master! I stopped thinking of the White Elephant!” At which point, the master beat the student. Then the student understood.

Ask me to explain this only if you truly wish to be denied enlightenment.

If you ever find yourself in true dark (like in a cave deep underground), you even lose a sense of where your hands are.
If you ever go to Carlsbad Caverns, take a side tour or two. That’s the real thing!

I find it… interesting, that spiderman and james bond are fictional character (with fictional precognition and reflexes), while Jackie Chan is indeed very real, and with very real incredible agility. Dunno, made me think about what “exceptional powers” are for us.

Most of us, no. However, I did see a blind martial arts master (no doubt of his blindness) in Japan run, full speed, through a train yard, dodging the trains and leaping between cars left and right. He reminded me of the Blind Man in Circle of Iron, but he was real and about 70 years old. He was supposedly a 5th Dan (black belt) master of Bujinkan, a form of ninja art. There is no competition form of this art as most of the strikes and techniques are lethal or crippling.

And Stan Lee finds people with strange senses and powers in his shows.
