Obviously Dee is not Down Syndrome, but she has many of the same good qualities. One of our neighbors had a Downs child, a little girl, and our dogs adored her. She'd come sit on our porch and the dogs would all run to her and lay about her to be petted, and they lapped it up like cream. One of our older dogs, a hound, wasn't fond of strangers, and the first time she came to our place he came up growling, but she reached for him, he sniffed her hand and shortly was wriggling all over like a puppy when she petted him. Anyone who tried to do her harm when our dogs were about would have been in SERIOUS trouble.
