My favorite remains the watermelon in the hydraulic press in "Buckaroo Banzai."

New Jersey: Why is there a watermelon there?

Reno: I'll tell you later.

Untold or incomplete stories can definitely be a great, great thing. I'm of course thinking of Tolkien, but Michael Ende does this all the time in Neverending Story, for instance.

Also: The Noodle Incident. :)

Nah, sometimes the best stories are untold! I love the hints that Vachel's been up to no good for a long time before we met him. (It's like watching a Dr. Who episode where he name drops but then doesn't get into it. The imagination runs wild!)
