School was okay. But we moved so often that we never fit in until we landed in one place for high school. By then, all the cliques had formed and we didn't fit anywhere except with the socially awkward kids, the geeks and really studious ones.

But that's okay. Most of the socially awkward geeks and others made it big in business and the popular kids wound up working for them. I actually commanded three of the former popular kids in the service when I was assigned to aid and train a national guard unit about to head to Iraq during Desert Storm. Must have killed them to have to take orders from me. But I didn't pick on them. Battle training is too important for personalities. I heard they all made it back so I must have done my job well. I was off doing my thing elsewhere (Special Ops) and didn't run into them again.

I hated school, it was the social interactions. In an ultra conservative society being a bit different is a disaster.

@Crookedolf, I LOVED school. both because I loved learning, but also because I was awkward socially and it allowed an environment where I got to interact.

Happy from her point of view, pretty sad from an observer's point of view. It's really an excellent composition, man.
