I’ve always felt that a hayride was more fun if someone had brought a guitar, or such, along. Then we can sing campy songs about heads tucked under arms, horse races (doo-dah!) & whatever else comes to mind.

Haunted houses used to be so “cool” because of the anticipation, etc. Now they are something to amuse a dad, who thinks about the technicalities & logistics of putting the darned thing together, while the kids have a blast.

Kids are starting to get too old for them though, now. Either that or I’ve ruined too many by pointing out how this or that bit could have been done better

I guess it’s like a cheesy / camp / preferred-term-here movie; you appreciate it for what it is. If you don’t expect much, almost all of the surprises are pleasant ones.

You don’t watch “Gilligan’s Island” because you want to see Shakespeare, you watch it because you want to see “Gilligan’s Island.” Of course, there WAS that one episode where they did a musical version of “Hamlet,” but that’s not the point. :-)
