General Lewis "Chesty" Puller, possibly the greatest Marine who ever lived, used to sit with his daughter on her bedroom floor and cut paper dolls with her. As burly, gruff and fearless as he was with his men and the enemy, he was a tender and loving husband and father with his wife and children. A true warrior.

Try as he might, Vachel cannot hide the goodness in his heart, which is why Ted lets him stay in the cave.

Actually, Vachel, at times like this, reminds me of my cousin. A lot of gruff, mean sounding, talk, while doing the most gentle and gracious good things for everybody.
