If it makes you feel better, I heard the crunch before I read your comment about it needing a crunch sound. (Being Canadian, the snowy crunch is in my bones. Also, sorry.)

Honestly, I would probably go with “crunch” as it is pretty descriptive and pretty sound-correct. Alternates might be: CURNCH, CHUNCH, KUNCH, etc. :)

Yes, but how to you transcribe into English the onomatopoeia that would be described as “snowy crunch”?

(It is a puzzler, he thought, listening to the bacon sizzle as he crunched on his toast.)
