Don't just **assume** the basement or other storage areas of your living quarters are being adequately ventilated. Check, and check frequently. I'll never forget one of the first episodes of "Ghost Hunters" where they traced the "spooky feelings" to the fact that the house owner was storing solvents for his business in the same area as the furnace for the house. The guy was constantly breathing low levels of solvent vapor, leading to the feelings of constantly being watched. He moved the solvents to a different area, installed an outside source of fresh air to the furnace, and no more ghosts. P.S. Unless the house runs on electricity. Then it was a water heater explosion. (The father of my best friend in high school narrowly escaped death when some acetylene tanks in the house next door developed slow leaks. They figure it took a few weeks while the tanks were being stored over the winter in the basement, but eventually and VERY suddenly the level of gas reached both critical mass and a source of ignition. The house was destroyed, but no one was hurt. The damage looked very much like what Christopher has drawn, sans blimp.
