Heh, we have a Japanese owned restaurant that sells Wasabi and other imports on the side. Not your usual "oriental" eatery dumbed down for the American market. Tears to the eyes, clears the sinuses quite wonderfully.

I've eaten fermented sardines (actually pilchards) and authentic wasabi before (quite hot - more than the fake stuff you find in oriental restaurants in the US). Not too bad, actually. Superb nutrition.

My picky daughter might have taken one (1) bite of said sandwich & thrown it to the vulture.

Note that I say "might."

Ronald - actually people tend to form food biases. We had a friend who always said he was allergic to deer meat. Well, we got some ground deer and decided to make jerky out of some of it. He loved the jerky until he found out it was deer meat. But, now allergic reaction for the approx. week he was eating it! Also, I would have a hard time eating grubs or fried grasshoppers, but they are a favorite food for some societies. Now, calf fries or mountain oysters - great, love to have some right now!

So, wait, she only suffers the effects of the sandwich after she knows what was in it?

Considering what I know about the smell of dogs' mouths and about what they're willing to put into them, Vachel obviously caught Blake on a very good day...
