I suspect nurses make that symphony an ignored background – until it stops, or changes! AI might be able to change that, but not yet nearly reliable-enough. The human nervous system is, in EE-speak, ‘AC-coupled’. The aroma of binjo disappeared after a few weeks in Iwakuni, for example, unless someone came in the barracks after riding his bike into one!

I’m *so* glad the hospital I stayed at after my last seizure didn’t have the “machine that goes ping” – that could have caused me enough stress to induce another seizure! ;)

I dunno, I got kind of used to them, the week I had to spend in hospital. I could hear the patterns repeat going around the ward, like tweeting birds sharing the news. To this day, the bridge in “Mr. Roboto” sounds very much like the concert I went to sleep with every night. I admit I miss it.

Struck down in his prime by “White Coat Syndrome”. God, I hate those beeps. Heard most hospitals have started requiring them to only be on for true emergency indication.
