I had to work on a BMW that was about that bad. You can take the pig out of the sty, but you can't take the sty out of the pig. Banana oil melts vinyl, the dash had seen many banana peels to the point a crater was melted in it. Cigarette ash had been tipped off into the AC vents because the ashtray was full. The back seat was a pile of possessions and fast food leavings and the passenger seat had some sort of sales promotional materials and other detritus along with a recently spilled cup of coffee. The smell made me think I needed to set a few rat traps before proceeding with working on it. I wiped the steering wheel off with a solvent rag and tarped the seat with a cargo blanket so I could take it for a test drive after making the repairs.
