When you think of all the information that maps DON’T contain — the eddies and currents in rivers and bays, the drift of industrial smoke and water pollution, the amount of car and truck traffic on any particular route, at what particular times, the location of blind spots and dangerous curves or uncertain road surfaces — it’s amazing that we get any utility out of them at ALL.

@Ronald, the word “prudence” isn’t specifically funny, he is simply saying in shorthand “suggesting that i take the map is a prudent idea.” Prudent meaning, acting with or showing care and thought for the future.
