This has me thinking about the efficacy of using a little controlled fire on a hill for sledding prep.

We have a little blowtorch on a handle contraption that works wonders on the ice on our walks. But using it on snow is a tedious project. It's easier to use a shovel.

The Naphtha in a flamethrower would be just as effective melting the snow if it wasn't ignited. But so is throwing salt.

The output is too broad. Vachel needs to work on "focusing" the flame. That way he can melt the snow on the sidewalk without setting the trees next to the sidewalk on fire.

And of course, as heat turns snow into water (which COULD turn to ice on the sidewalks) it also turns water into water vapor. Presto! Dry sidewalks!
