@War_Pig, I have several baby-name books (or in recent years, I mostly just use baby-name websites) if I want meaning or origin of the name to play a part. For Spacetrawler, I just make stuff up that sounds funny. For Little Dee, I don't remember where I got Dee. Ted I named after TEDdy bear. Blake after William Blake. And Vachel, I think I may have just looked up names which began with "V." :)

@Harena, that is totally in the high pitch falsetto queen of England voice.

Ah, but is Ted really asleep or just pretending, and wanting to shove Vachel head first in a vase to shut him up?

I've often wondered how sci-fi /fantasy/sword&sorcery authors come up with names. EE "Doc" Smith alone had to come up with dozens of alien names in the Lensman series alone in the days before computer-generated names. Has to be tough to do. Personally, I cheat and use a book which has lots of names of people throughout history in it. Sometime I merely poach and sometimes I combine.
