@Neil, lol! Actually, the funny thing is that I originally spelled it correctly. But for some reason my spell-check rejected it. I remember trying it again, and then saying “it’s not with an ‘o’ is it?” and sure enough that worked.

Incorrectly.

I just looked it up, my dictionary is apparently smarter than my wordpress spellcheck, and both are smarter than me. :) Well, it looks like it’s generally used as “afterward” although “afterwards” is acceptable, which musta’ been what WP was rejecting.

Only when it’s adults do I do it and not feel bad after. When it’s the grandkids whose heads I am filling with nonsense I make sure they know I’m kidding.

“Papaw why does the wind blow?”
“The wind isn’t blowing, it’s the trees sneezing, see them move when the wind comes?”

I have some cherished nonsense that was passed down to me from my “papaws” and I make sure it’s passed along again.
