As one who got my stride watching television in the 80s (and then quit cold turkey in 1990), how could this ad NOT have made an impression on me. Still makes me laugh.

Treadmills are always ripe for humor. You’re running but not going anywhere, the possibilities for gags are endless. Which is why you have to wait for special times, such as those involving a moose.
For this strip, I was thinking how things and places which are fascinating to read about are often kinda’ a pain in the day-to-day.

I have no idea what made me think of moose-herding. I guess it simply seemed obvious at the time.
I think I may have giggled at the phrase “kernel of wheat” for some reason and then wrote this strip backwards.
Basically: more bread making love.
