Falling snow does indeed make a sound! Although a few times I’ve had people (with perfectly adequate hearing) insist it doesn’t. My working hypothesis is that one must a “quiet mind” that is able to allow the sound to come in.
Well, that and not work around loud noises for a living.
I have “artillery ears” from an adult life in the military, yet I can still hear the sound of snow falling when it is a heavy snow coming down fast. There was a movie, once, where they recorded the sound of a heavy snowfall and used it in the movie for their fake snowfall. Can’t remember the name of flick, tho.
The other aspect to it is that it acts as a sound baffle. So it’s not just that you can (just) hear snow falling, it’s that it also makes everything else sound slightly different.
