   I agree about the shutters, but they must be real, working shutters, not the fake, tacked on sort made of thin vinyl. Good wooden or metal shutters are useful in securing the home and also protecting the windows in hard winds and storms. They also confer a great deal of privacy when made well. My home has metal shutters painted and grained to look like wood. They are much stronger than wood, but light and easy to maintain. Just grease the hinges and clean them regularly.
