It occurred to me when writing this, that reverse psychology doesn’t always work so well with a sadist.
I not only love that he used a paint-roller extender handle for his flagpole, but ALSO that it’s a carryover from last week when they were painting. :)

Today, Monday, I’m having some sudden unexpected surgery. Should be quick in-and-out today, but it’s surgery, so ya never know. And I haven’t uploaded the week’s strips yet (editing this from my phone). -Christopher

I forget if it was Pirates of the Caribbean inspired, but I remember when I thought of doing a pirate week, and how delighted i was by it.
It would’ve been awesome if it had been filled with gunpowder.
Another fun juxtaposition, it amused me when I thought “oh yeah, there would be green stuff GROWING in the cave. Funny.” :)

In that last panel I almost get a twinge of guilt because there’s a sense that the alligator can tell how much he’s no wanted.

I find a delicious pleasure in hearing the things which make Blake sad, because they are also the things which make him so sweet.
The great thing about writing the alligator is that he is so set on his love for Blake, that he overlooks all reason. It’s heart-warming. And funny. And tragic.
Um.
