Oh, how I like a first-panel gag, especially when the last panel is dang funny too.
This scenario I actually pulled (in its essence) from my personal life. How many dishes I have to do afterwards has often been far too significant a factor in what I make for dinner.
If I remember correctly, when I was writing this I was thinking, sheesh, communes are fine things with the right good-natured people. So, I allowed Vachel to keep his line for the joke, and let Blake say something sweet about ‘em.
This strip, the week in general, was a delight to draw: the random things stuck int he ice, and visual effects, and the totally different perspective of all their common-day things like cupboards.
