I am very proud of that last panel, the twist, the punchline, I think it’s really well balanced.
That and I love the idea of a twenty foot high cake. I’m sure that would last me several days if I had one.
It is such a very-fast inner discussion, while trying to hide your expression, when seeing something beautiful destroyed by a child who is trying to express love and doesn’t know the “value” adults put on things.
If I remember correctly, this strip was partly inspired by a scene from “My Neighbor Totoro” where the character May puts flowers (if I remember correctly) one-by-one on her father’s desk while he works.
I like having such a dog specific joke, those funny plastic cones they have to wear. Oh, and sometimes I’ve been the unwanted cheerer-on, sometimes the unwanting to be cheered-on.
