The awesome thing for me about this strip, is knowing that Blake did that out of pure selfless love.

This strip is a mix of things for me. I really enjoyed capturing the silent in-air shot of Ted, first of all. But the sentiment…. as an adult, I’ve felt, and perhaps (embarrassingly enough) even said words similar to Vachel’s. I get it. But I am also Ted, and feel the Vachels of the world need more Ted’s in these circumstances.

I have never been on a rope swing where someone didn’t say something along the lines of, “okay, make sure you get out past that light colored area, so you don’t hit the rocks.
They’re still madly fun and an adrenaline rush.
Bethanne is the one who told me the “motorboat motorboat” song that goes with swimming, I never heard it growing up. But it was so cute that i had to write this strip.
Ted’s temper is shown a little bit here, although it later rather mellowed out.
I was particularly proud of Blake’s line in this one. Not only to show his earnest/clueless nature, but also because it gave us a visual to imagine — that of Dee sitting at the bottom of the lake not swimming at all.
In real life this would not be funny at all. Just so’s you know.
