   Ah, the innocence of elementary schools in the late 50s and early 60s in the Midwest. As a child, on a stage, singing “I’m Gettin’ Nuttin’ for Christmas” or doing EASTER plays, singing “Old MacDonald”, doing the March lion/lamb thing. No drugs, no crime in schools. Recess outdoors and being allowed to play on tall slides, monkey bars and merry-go-rounds (all 3 now banned from most schoolyards). Standing for the Pledge of Allegiance every day and in my day, the morning prayer.

   It was a far more innocent time.
