   I have always been confused about one aspect of the alligator/dog romance…is the alligator male or female?

   I know this doesn’t make sense, but I thought the alligator’s gender changed as the situation demands.

   However, there is a more authoritative answer

   @Charles, later on it came out that the alligator was male. For a while I left it ambiguous. :)
