I’m still not sure I understand how it is that she can make *sounds* yet she can’t *talk*.
I LOVE this one!
Anybody else hear Dee speaking “Grownup” from the Peanuts cartoons?
Many mutes can make sounds, they just cannot make the ones which result in intelligible speech.
In conclusion; Wah.
@Nebulous: Totally! I always have been amused by that reference every time I see this strip! :D
@Ronald, it’s also somewhat part of the strip reversal in that the animals can talk but not the human. Think of it this way: if you saw an animal in the strip making noise like “bark bark” but not saying words, I’m guessing it would not surprise you. :)
That is a great explanation Chris! I thinks Little Dee is one of of the Smartest, and Best daily strips I have ever read. I guess thats why I have all four books. Any chance of an occasional one off of Blake, Aligator, Vachel, Alida, and Ted strips. I know that’s asking a lot but heh, It doesn’t hurt to ask.
BTW really enjoy Space Trawler, and got a some guys at work to read it! They Loved It
I’ve just finished reading the entire archive of this strip, and I have to say it’s one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen that was not an actual kitten. Please keep doing this strip!
Fantastic blog and actually assists with understanding the article better.
