   Yeah, everyone wants to pretend they didn’t listen to or like Manilow in the day. He only sold about 30 million records. Like guys who pretend they didn’t buy Abba or Cher albums, either. My biggest guilty little sin? Captain and Tennile. That woman could make the ABC song sound sexy.

   I had a childhood crush on Barry Manilow…fortunately, many childhood infatuations are more than possible to outgrow and overcome. Sorry, Barry…;)

   My childhood crush was Cher. If the fan letters I wrote her as a 12-year-old still exist, I will pay good money to get them back. You figure, the only romantic role model at that time for 12 year old boys was Pepe le Pew. You can imagine what those letters looked like and how they laughed when they read them and then, hopefully, burnt them. At the time she was 19, absolutely gorgeous, had just become wildly famous and I was 12 and just entering puberty. It was pretty pathetic. :-)
