“Ut” just isn’t used often enough these days.
If you’re trying to get rid of pebbles… or broken glass… or glass broken by pebbles… I guess it makes perfect sense to sweep a dirt floor
The dirt underneath is CLEAN dirt. The dirt she’s sweeping away is DIRTY dirt. Duh.
Cave floors aren’t usually dirt, they’re of the same strata from which the cave is composed. Sweeping them would be beneficial, especially with a vulture living in the place (leftover hoofs, horns, teeth, etc.) and two furry animals with their shed hair (and the trails of cake crumbs from Ted). Don’t wanna draw ants, do you?
