I often feel this way when sleeping near someone who is awake and doing things. When reversed, I tend to walk in tiptoes in such a case. Others…. I’m not sure if they walk on tiptoes or if my mind exaggerates the noises when I’m half-asleep.
Oh, and I used to bowl on a bowling league as a kid. Fun!

“Waking a person unnecessarily should not be considered a capital crime.
For a first offense, that is.”
–The Notebooks of Lazarus Long
When I am awakened unnecessarily, the words “surly curmudgeon” are generally used in the aftermath. The only one who can get away with it is my grandson, and he seldom wakes me without good cause. I can sleep peacefully through almost any amount of thunder, but even small hail hitting the window will bring me bolt upright.
Some years ago, I had neighbors on either side with kids, and the kids would come by every Saturday to ring the doorbell over and over and over … I should have done something about it and made them stop but I really didn’t want to get out of bed that early.
To paraphrase something from somewhere, waking up a person who’s asleep is easy. Waking up a person who’s PRETENDING to be asleep is much more difficult. ;-)
