I have never done origami, but I think it looks like fun. :)
Never tried it myself, but I have sat and watched, fascinated, as Japanese women made all sorts of things from rice paper sheets w/out plans or instructions. It’s like watching real magic performed in front of your eyes. Mantises, dolls, dragon boats, gateways, crickets, pagodas, samurai figures, you name it. They even did requests. I had them make up an origami figure of my wife in her wedding gown (well a woman in her western wedding gown) from a picture I always carried, in about ten minutes, which I carefully shipped to my wife. She had it until the day she passed away and my elder daughter has it now.
