Then again, just because you’ve said it before doesn’t NECESSARILY mean you don’t mean it.
Ahhh Vachel. Pretending to pretend to be sincere. (:
But he really does seem to have a major soft spot for Dee; gotta love it. :)
“The secret of success is sincerity. Once you can fake that you’ve got it made.” - French dramatist Hippolyte Jean Giraudoux (29 October 1882 – 31 January 1944)
Words to live by…
I think he really DID feel bad for having unthinkingly insulted Dee. He just sort of rode the moment a little harder than most others would.
I won’t comment on the obvious bizarreness of the idea that a vulture could be sentenced to prison, much less called before a parole board. Prison seems an overly “advanced” concept for animals to bother imitating, and even if Vachel was once caged by humans, they certainly wouldn’t have done him the courtesy of a parole hearing. Oh well. ;-)
Maybe he was almost imprisoned in a zoo? Do zoos have parole boards?

Yes, if he’d done it thinkingly, he’d have relished it much more.
