I equate this strip to returning from a camping trip. Everything is dank and dirty and a wreck, which is the perfect moment for a little escapism. :)

When I was in the service, when our family got back from going “home” to see the parents on leave, we’d get back two days early, then pretend we were still on vacation. We’d eat out every meal and not make the beds, go to the movies or just window shop in the mall or go to the park or visit friends. No TV, no chores. After the long drive back it was worth it.

Actually rather than being bad animals, they just did what we’ve been told our whole lives…life gave them lemons.
