I remember as a kid being in awe of hypnosis. And I still was for a long time, but now it’s a bit more in theory. I tried going to a hypnotist several years ago to try to quit biting my nails, but I wasn’t very suggestable/receptive.

You bite your nails? I think that’s adorable. Don’t stop.
Growing up & through my younger adult years, I always wanted hypnosis to be the panacea for all the broken bits inside my head… now I am skeptical that it would be… Ahwell, at least I have Little Dee to divert me and cheer me ^_^
We were taken to Bethesda Naval hospital, put under, and given post-hypnotic instructions which made us immune, supposedly, to hypnosis and narco-interrogation and even, supposedly, made us give wrong answers under torture.
I went to one of those “hip hypnotist” shows a few years back and she had no effect on me whatsoever, so maybe it worked. All the self-hypnotic tapes do is help me sleep. None of the suggestions work. I tried it for memory, but I don’t remember it working. ;-)
Obviously, while Ted is disapproving and Blake is oblivious, Dee thinks Vachel’s antics are quite amusing. She’s a child who understands the “adults” in her life better than they understand each other. Nice touch.
