I always found it peculiar that dogs want to play fetch, but are so unwilling to let you throw the thing in question. Maybe they’re bringing it back purely to play tug-of-war? I don’t know.

GROWF
All part of the game.
It’s actually an instinct-thing. Playing tug-a-war or keep-away? Even wolves do it. They’ll grab a stick, and others will try to get it away from them. All good fun, I suppose.
My theory on this fetch dynamic: my dog thinks I’m just really, really clumsy, and keep dropping the ball/stick/etc all the way across the yard.
