I always found this strip particularly dark and cynical. But I do think, as sweet and clever as she is, Dee is a very physical child, and hitting a tree with a stick, to her, is a fine idea.

Its okay, we need more factory workers than brain surgeons. Never be ashamed of honest work. Whether a tinker or a tailor, a soldier or a sailor, a factory worker or a brain surgeon, a construction worker or a computer geek; all assist the human race.
The only excrescences are criminals, lawyers and politicians (but I repeat myself). Them we can do without, and no one should ever admit to being any of them without feeling ashamed and evil.
Thank you for today’s strip. There are many amazing things in the world to be and do. Even the things that seem trivial to others may be the most important things that influence or bring more happiness and peace to the world.
I know! To both comments. The thing is to find something which your find satisfying and makes you happy. Meaning is found and created, it’s not in a book. Except the dictionary, there are meanings in there too.
