This actually is drawn from my own life. If I recall correctly, my mom was trying to teach us manners, and then my dad thought it would be funny if…
(us kids, of course, gobbled it up).
I remember when the jungle boy showed up on Gilligan’s Island. Mr Howell sat him down at lunch and told Lovey “If he picks up his fork with his right hand, he’s Harvard. If the left, Princeton”
Jungle boy grabbed the food in both hands using no utensils and ate it down, while Mr Howell yelled; “Egads! A Yale man!
Actually it was “Heavens!” Here’s the clip:
I hit the floor laughing over this one as a kid.
@War Pig: Jim Bacus was a much better comedian than he normally gets credit for. Caught his stand up act once, right after the Gilligan’s run & he had us all ROTFLOL.
This discussion sounds like my wife & I trying to instill manners into the kids. Only, SHE’s the knitter & has threatened to garrote me with a special silk & alpaca blend because of my humor.
