It is rare that I hike when the “quickest way down” isn’t an idea bandied about. It would save so much walking!
Most of the hills I climb aren’t suitable for humans to fly from. Even the one’s with great views don’t really have suitable taxiways.
If you just run down, the potential energy you stored (foot-pounds to lift your whole body up the hill) will come out, expressed IN YOUR KNEES as HEAT! Hikers, take your time and enjoy the descent… Mountain-Climbing 101, U of Utah Spring 1968. Class dismissed at the top, so that six-pack is legal!
