The whole Blake/Alligator thing was such an accidental joy to write. A moment of inspiration which gave a really good chemistry which held up the entire run of the strip. I love when things work like that. :)

One thing I never understood: Blake appears to be a male, so Alligator is supposedly female? Or is this a gay AND cross species thing?
Alligator’s frown at the end really ties it together and brings it home. :)
The Alligator has been stated to be male, so yes, it’s a gay cross-species thing.
“Life is full of wonder. Love is never wrong.” — Melissa Etheridge
This is one of my all-time favorite strips; depending on my mood, it displaces the “catapult” for top seat :)
From the beginning I felt he was male, but I didn’t reveal it for sure until much later in hope that people who might find homosexuality to be offensive would fall in love with the characters and root for their love FIRST, because that was what was important.
Maybe that was silly. I don’t know.
The utter confusion and bizarre-ness surrounding this relationship made the issue of sex (as in gender) almost irrelevant.
Hey, I love the fact that they’re both male. It just makes Blake seem that much sweeter.
So, this is the moment Little Dee jumped the shark … eh, zombie and bee swarm on a helicopter (Perhaps read too much web comics as of late :-)
